Our previously scheduled dementia tour will NOT occur at today, but will be rescheduled for another meeting. Our deepest condolences to the presenter as she deals with a death in her family.

Meeting Today and Conference

Thanks to everyone that attended last Friday's conference -- Two Hands Caring: Helping You Help Others. It was a great success. We had about 60 people in attendance. It was wonderful to see everyone in person and listen to an informative and engaging speaker: Dr. Kelly O'Shea Carney.

Today at 2:30, we will be holding our monthly meeting at the United Way building by the airport. Please feel free to stop in and join us!

Review of Yesterday's Meeting

The Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Direct Care Workers Association held our monthly meeting yesterday. The group discussed:

1. The State Direct Care Workers Association
2. This Blog
3. The conferences on May 16th and July 25th
4. The future direction of the LV Chapter of DCWA.

We were very excited to have two managers from different facilities attend for the first time!

Review of the March 18th Meeting

The Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Direct Care Workers held their monthly meeting on March 18th, 2008. Some of the topics discussed were the recent protests by a Direct Care Worker at one of the long term care facilities, the need for training tapes in MH/MR, and some activities to do with older adults.

One of the Direct Care Workers is making a "feeling bag" for her clients. In the bag, she included something soft, some smooth stones, some seashells and some other items. The older adults can reach in the bag and feel the different textures. What a great idea!
